Rugs

I'm currently looking for rugs for the room we just completed in my brother-in-laws house. He loves the wood but a few rugs in the large room would both bring the noise level down and also bring another soft element to the space.

I'd thought I'd share some of the rug ideas we've discussed with you.

Runner - If you use one solid rug you should plan for at least 24" in each side of the bed. We're trying to keep costs down so are considering two runners on each side of the bed instead of one rug for underneath.

Colors - Playing with colors can be fun. Since his room is so large, we're considering using two large solid colored rugs; one light grey in his sleeping area and one deep charcoal near his reading/tv area, these will also bring in the sleek, modern colors he's after. Remember, never go with a black rug....you'll see every little piece of lint!
While tangerine isn't exactly the color we're going for, I found this great hair hide rug from Horchow.

Textures - Most guys think rugs are full of flower designs but there are many great textured rugs out there. Try a frize rug instead of a rug with a normal cut pile or a sisal rug for a more natural look.
Restoration Hardware is currently having a great sale on these Sisal Rugs.
