Centerpieces

There are so many different options for centerpieces. I’ve always been a fan of a floral centerpiece however during summer it’s fun to mix it up when having a BBQ or other fun event. Here are some ideas.

Candy

Have you noticed that if you have a bowl of candy out, people migrate towards it? Or, if you’re like my husband you sit right down next to it and devour it! Anyway, get a fun dish and add some colorful candy. If you’re having a BBQ using some blue paper plates and napkins, put some of the chocolate Dove candies wrapped in blue foil in a dish. For a birthday party, M&M’s are always fun. Hit up one of the candy stores where you can purchase the individual colors. Hosting a sporting event? Get candy in the teams colors. I also like to use fun dishes. I’ve used everything from martini glasses and large wine glasses to a grouping of coffee mugs, each holding different flavored coffee candy.

Fruit

Fruit is a great way to go if you have family or friends visiting. It will last longer than flowers and no need to change the water, plus you have an instant snack available for them. Find a fun bowl and fill it with oranges, different apples and pears. You can also use fake fruit, this can be easily found at any craft store. I think I even recently saw some decent looking fake fruit at walmart.

Candles

Steer away from the traditional candlesticks and have some fun. Try a grouping of colorful votives. Select a single color of floating candles and put them in water, for the color, add some flower petals. One of my most recent centerpieces for a gathering consisted of different heights of off white candles placed in silver candle holders of different shapes and sizes. Mixing and matching the holders is fun, I found them at antique and re-sale shops really cheap. Just try to tie everything together by a single color of candle and create a grouping in the center of the table. The different shapes and height really add interest.

Here are some more photos of other centerpiece ideas.

Well, I hope you got some fun ideas from this. If you have any other great suggestions, I'd love to her them!
