Benson Ford Shiphouse

Last weekend my husband and I paid a visit to Put-In-Bay, a village on South Bass Island.  This island is in Lake Erie, just a short ferry ride from Port Clinton and Sandusky, Ohio. We rented bikes and biked all over the island and had a great time. We were particularly perplexed when we saw this......

It appeared to be part of a ship turned into a house.....how odd, yet cool!

After returning home I just had to do some research!

The Benson Ford was actually built in 1924. It was used by the Ford Motor Company for transportation across the Great Lakes.  After the ship was decommissioned in 1981the forward superstructure was transported to Put-In-Bay (or South Bass Island) to then be turned into a summer home.

I bet you're as interested as I am of the interior layout. Well, you're in luck. Click here for an interior map on the Benson Ford website.

This home has even been featured on the following shows:

MTV Extreme Cribs
Travel Channel
HGTV

Here is a link to the videos if you'd like to check them out. Definitely worth your time to see this awesome home.
