Autumn Dinnerware and Table Decor

One of the best things about Autumn is decorating with the gorgeous colors of reds, browns, gold, and green.

I especially love a beautifully set table in
Fall colors!

Here is some inspiration for your dining table decor:

Start your guests off with these great appetizer plates from JCPenney Home. They have a slight metallic accent that really adds to your table.

This lovely dinneware from Pier 1 Imports can really make a statement against a neutral tablecloth. Each piece is between $5 and $7!

Serve up your favorite nuts or candies in this antiqued bronze Maple Leaf Serving Bowl from Pier 1.

Pottery Barn has this gorgeous Pear Platter. It would be perfect for serving a variety of scrumptious foods and it's dishwasher and microwave safe.

If you prefer a more clean lined look, these great dishes in red/orange from CB2 are the perfect way to liven up your table.

Happy Autumn decorating!

Teal Home Decor

Now that Autumn is upon us, as expected, I find both my clients and myself naturally moving towards deeper colors. I have a current obsession with Teal. Not just any teal, but a deep, dark, bold teal. I've been using this color for accessories for clients homes and they seem to just love the boldness of this hue.

Ready to introduce this color to your home?

Just add a pop of this gorgeous hue here and there
with these great accessories.

I just love Threshold's Trellis Lamp Shade which is available at Target. Awesome lamp shade at an awesome price.

This Teal Blue Crackle Drinkware from Pier 1 Imports is gorgeous. I actually received a set as a gift and now get them for my clients as gifts. They look great displayed on a bar with accent lighting.

For a simple, solid throw I pick up this Solid Teal Throw from West Elm.

World Market has these pretty Teal Herringbone Table Runner, Placemat and Napkin sets.

Ok, now that you've read enough about my Autumn color obsession, what colors are you loving this time of year?

Teal is a bold hue that can add just the right "punch" to the room.

Fleur de lis

The "fleur-de-lis" is a widely used motif of a lily or iris. In English it means “flower of the lily”. It’s common to see this in textiles, decorative tiles, carved wood accents, architecture and more.

Of course the above image is only one version of this motif, you can find many different styles of the fleur-de-lis from simple like this, to very decorative.

Here are some great examples of home décor using the fleur-de-lis

Decorative Wall Hook from Country Market Girl on Etsy
Deco Wall Mirror from Decor Universe
Decanter from Pier 1 Imports
Bon Appetit Wall Plaque from Georgie Girl Studios at Etsy.com

Large Pillow Cover from YiaYias at Etsy.com

Ready for another little piece of information?

The city of St. Louis, Missouri, was actually founded by French. The fleur-de-lis is a symbol of St. Louis, which is where my husband and I spent the past ten years prior to our move to Cleveland. The St. Louis flag even has a fleur-de-lis representing the meeting of the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers.

Have a great Friday!

Accessories

I spent the day staging a home that is going up for sale. I have some favorite pieces that I use for staging and thought I'd share them with you. They're great pieces of decor that work in almost any home with any style and color scheme.

Lantern
I love using lanterns! They look beautiful on an end table, or a collection as a dining table centerpiece. They're also great to stick in that little nook. Better yet, add some of the great battery operated candles to create ambiance in the home. I particularly love these lanterns from Pottery Barn.

Ottoman
Having an ottoman is a great piece of furniture. I have this Issac ottoman in Black from Pier 1 Imports. I've used it in almost every room; add a tray and you have a coffee table, use as extra seating and I've even used it as an end table when staging a bedroom.

Coffee Mug
Yes...go ahead and laugh...I have a favorite coffee mug. I like to place coffee mugs in a kitchen to give it a comfortable feel so the potential buyer can imagine themselves coming downstairs to grab their morning cup of joe. These mugs from Crate and Barrel are perfect. A clean white color paired with a simple clean shape provide for the perfect home staging mug.

Storage Baskets
I don't know of a single house that can't benefit from some great storage baskets. I like to use these great baskets from Target to show how the homeowner could keep organized. I use them in every room from the office to the bathroom.
Candle
I find my favorite white or cream pillar candles at Pier 1 Imports. They always have tons of the unscented candles in stock in every shape and size you could imagine. They also offer the battery operated candles and they even have great scented ones too. I addition to the Pier 1 candles, I also love to add Illume brand candles to homes. They are my favorite and have amazing scents. Their Pineapple Cilantro will give the room an amazing scent without even lighting it! They can be sometimes difficult to find so check out their website here

I hope you enjoyed viewing my list of MUST HAVES for home staging. Have a great day!

Pier 1 To Go

I always enjoy my ventures into Pier 1 Imports. While they're pretty good at keeping a nice supply of their items, it does occasionally happen that they're one or two short of the drinking glasses I want, or salad plates I need.

Well, they have come up with a great solution: Pier 1 To-Go!

You simply log onto Pier 1 To-Go, reserve the item and quantity that you want, then stop in your local store, pay for and pick your items. It's that easy!

You'll also get an e-mail confirming your reserved order to ensure it's correct.

Here are some of my new favorite things available at Pier 1 Imports.
