Fleur de lis

The "fleur-de-lis" is a widely used motif of a lily or iris. In English it means “flower of the lily”. It’s common to see this in textiles, decorative tiles, carved wood accents, architecture and more.

Of course the above image is only one version of this motif, you can find many different styles of the fleur-de-lis from simple like this, to very decorative.

Here are some great examples of home décor using the fleur-de-lis

Decorative Wall Hook from Country Market Girl on Etsy
Deco Wall Mirror from Decor Universe
Decanter from Pier 1 Imports
Bon Appetit Wall Plaque from Georgie Girl Studios at Etsy.com

Large Pillow Cover from YiaYias at Etsy.com

Ready for another little piece of information?

The city of St. Louis, Missouri, was actually founded by French. The fleur-de-lis is a symbol of St. Louis, which is where my husband and I spent the past ten years prior to our move to Cleveland. The St. Louis flag even has a fleur-de-lis representing the meeting of the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers.

Have a great Friday!
