Great interior ideas in Chicago

I just returned from spending a few days with my sister in Chicago. We met in Schaumburg and had a wonderful time shopping. Between the mall, all the stores and the huge IKEA, we could hardly walk at the end of our couple days.

While looking around I snapped a few pics to save in my "inspiration" file. I thought I'd share them with you!

This was a display at IKEA that I loved. Someday I'm going to have a library just like this.....full of design books!

This was a really nice combination. The glass tiles worked wonderfully with the dark granite and cabinetry colors.

I also thought this was a great looking kitchen. The black cabinetry makes the kitchen very modern and sleek however the lighter granite definitely softens the look and keeps it from looking too harsh.

Unfortunately it seems like so many of the ZGallerie stores have closed. While at the Woodfield Mall I was able to visit one and was thrilled with what I found.

This Sequoia Dining Table was stunning. What a statement piece!

This Chisel Glassware was also fabulous. I'd love to have this for holiday parties.

Thanks suburban Chicago for a fun shopping trip!

Ikea purchases

I always enjoy shopping at Ikea. What other furniture store can you start out with breakfast, shop the several floors, finish with lunch and leave with a car full of furniture and accessories without spending a ton? I almost feel like a kid in a candy store while there. Unfortunately a lot of the pieces are not made for long term. I found this great article as a guide of "What Not to Buy at Ikea" that has some great recommendations!

IKEA Furniture Delivery

IKEA has some great inexpensive pieces of furniture. It's perfect if you're on a budget, looking for temporary pieces or even want to try a new look or style before sinking too much money into the project.

Unfortunately there is not an IKEA in St. Louis and the closest store is in Chicago. If you want anything delivered  to you, it costs an arm and a leg! Midwest Modern is a company that specializes in bringing the modern, unique design of IKEA to St. Louis! Basically you give them your shopping list, they go pick it up and bring it back to their warehouse in Webster Groves and then you simply go pick it up from there.  For an additional charge, they can also deliver to your home.  Brilliant, isn't it? According to Midwest Modern, they can save you 40% to 50% on shipping compared to IKEA's shipping rates. Don't want to put your new piece of furniture together? They'll also do the assembly!
