Nursery Decor

I just attended a baby shower for a friend and of course a majority of the conversation during the party was on the nursery decor. She opted for yellow and grey colors. I thought I'd share some of my other nursery decor ideas with you.

Yellow
Yellow is one of my favorite colors for a nursery. It is gender neutral and when you select a creamy, buttery tone its very inviting.

Neutral
Your baby's room does not need to be colorful to look soft and comforting. A pale beige can also do the trick. This room looks amazing with the pop of white furniture.

Grey
Grey is also a great neutral color that you can pair with another color for a fun room. Below is a yellow and grey combo, similar to my friend's nursery. I am also a fan of lavender and grey for a girl's room.

Aqua
This hue is also perfect for girls or boys. For girls, add a touch of pink. For a boy's room, mix with blue, yellow or green.

If you have a little one on the way, happy decorating and I'd love to hear some of your favorite color combinations!

Children's Room Decor Ideas

Several people have asked me recently for room decor ideas for their kiddos so I thought I'd share some!

I normally encourage people to use colors other than pink for girls and blue for boys. If you are going to stick with pink or blue I encourage you to consider different ways to use the paint.
This room is pale pink with accents of a darker pink and one darker pink accent wall. The wood floor makes the pink not seem like too much. Add a pale carpet and it would be a little over the top. Make sure when selecting paint colors you consider the finishes in the room that you won't be changing.
The oranges and blues mixed with the pink really give the room a fresh, new look. This is a great way to use pink but make it look updated. Plus the butterfly wall decal is great fun! Some people get carried away with decals. No need to cover each wall, simply add one focal point.
I really like the green paint below the chair rail. It's a great green color but isn't overwhelming in the small room. Green with pink accents is a nice color combo for a girls room.
Like I said above, I encourage people to try newer color combos for girls. This room uses berry and aqua. This will be great as she starts to grow up and won't want a pink princess room anymore. Aquas are great for a girls room, its a soothing color and looks great with pinks, greens, blues and yellows.
Yellow is probably my favorite room color for children. It's unisex and goes with so many different colors. Add pink, blue or green accents in different tones for fun.
This is a great room color, a fabulous orange color with pink accents in two different tones. The splashes of aqua really set off the look. How cute!

Hope this provided you some fresh new ideas! Happy decorating!

Modern Decor For Children

Designing rooms for children is a lot of fun. Of course using pink ruffles for girls and blue paint for boys is what you first think of when designing these rooms. Have you ever thought of going modern though? Several companies are realizing that some people prefer a modern, clean lined look. If you're a fan of a modern, contemporary look, here are some great websites that you'll have to check out.

I love the site My Urban Child which is full of furniture, lamps, high chairs, rugs, playsets and even more! Plus they offer free shipping on orders over $90.

This Mod Rocker is available in three different finishes.

IKEA also has great furniture and accessories for children.

This cute and durable chair is only $14.99 and available in several colors.

Design Public is another good site with tons of options in modern furniture and decor.

Design Public has really cute twin beds and bedding.
